Build on familiar German basics at A2

Already familiar with some German words and simple sentences? Choose a short A2 exercise and use the feedback to revisit words and word order you are still unsure about.

Put A2 into an everyday context

A2 includes common expressions and exchanging simple information in familiar everyday situations. Despiel practises selected words, articles and word order. Listening, conversation and independent writing need additional practice; these games do not cover the whole language level.

Learn the article with the word

Choose der, die or das for a noun, then read the feedback. For example, set 10 questions without a question timer to focus on the word and its article. The button selects only A2; check the question count, presentation and timer yourself before starting.

Connect words and meanings in Memory

Choose 5 or 10 pairs from the A2 set. Match a German word to its meaning; with German cards, the meaning is a short definition. The card language and layout stay fixed for the round. Aim for time or moves; mistakes reduce each affected pair’s reward, and only a completed board earns rewards.

Check word order

Arrange the cards and check your solution before submitting: your first answer determines the score. A correct version, translation and explanation appear afterwards. The game accepts prepared valid alternatives. It is not a free-text correction tool and does not automatically accept every grammatically possible wording.

Keep practice short and review mistakes

Finish one round first, then read the feedback on answers you were unsure of. Next, try another game or return to A1 if useful. Only fully completed rounds receive the usual rewards. You can start as a guest and transfer progress when registering or signing in.

Article example

die Kreuzung

the crossroads

Kreuzung is feminine: in the nominative singular, the form is die Kreuzung. Learn the German noun together with its article.

Word example

die Quittung

a receipt for a payment

A Quittung confirms a payment. The short definition connects the word with an everyday situation.

Sentence example

Nach der Arbeit besucht Timo seine Nachbarin.

After work, Timo visits his neighbour.

Nach der Arbeit comes first. The finite verb besucht takes the second position, followed by Timo. A sentence position can therefore contain several words.

Questions and answers

How is this different from A1?

A1 introduces basic words and simple sentences. Here you select the existing A2 sets to consolidate those foundations further. Difficulty selects exercises; it does not certify your language level.

Do I have to finish A1 first?

No. A1, A2 and a mixed set are freely available, with no minimum score. The buttons only open settings; an existing round keeps its original conditions.

Is this enough for an A2 course or exam?

No. The three games practise individual skills but do not replace a complete course, a placement test or preparation for every exam section. They do not certify course completion or exam success.
